The MidNite Solar Battery Meter is no ordinary battery meter. It is much more accurate than traditional battery monitors which only measure a battery’s instantaneous voltage to determine how full it is (something that is known to be inaccurate). Based upon the battery type, it knows that the voltage needs to stay at a certain point for so long before it considers it fully charged. What makes it really invaluable is that it also keeps track of how long its been since your battery bank has been fully charged. When your batteries did not see a full 100% charge in the past 2 weeks a red LED lights up, telling you it is time to get them charged – something very important to maintain your batteries’ health.

Sulfation can be a problem. The MidNite battery capacity meter indicates a lack of sufficient charging that can lead to sulfation. Settings for gel, AGM, and flooded batteries.

The MidNite battery capacity meter is voltage based, requires no shunt, and needs no calibration. It is the perfect budget battery capacity meter!

Important Note: Please ignore the “100%” green LED! It should be re-labelled “Charging”. It does NOT mean the battery is 100% full, it just means the Voltage is high enough that the battery is charging. The battery can be completely empty, and the moment it starts charging that 100% LED will light up.

Nice, simple device but it does not take into account temperature compensation. So in the summer when your batteries are warmer it may not indicate full charge and in the fall, winter and spring – if your batteries are a little cooler – it will more accurately depict what is going on.
